Gender equality accelerates economic growth, and women"s participation in decision-making leads to more peaceful, secure and cohesive societies. We all need to do more in Canada and around the world to champion the rights of women and girls. With this understanding, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today announced that Canada will host the next Women Deliver Conference, which will be held from June 3 to 6, 2019, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Canada will provide $20 million from 2017 to 2020 to support Women Deliver in their global advocacy. These contributions will support programs promoting the health, rights, and wellbeing of women and girls, with a focus on their sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Every three years, the Women Deliver Conference brings together world leaders, activists, government officials, parliamentarians, NGO representatives, and business people to discuss gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
